Firefighters spend 4 hours putting out silo fire in District

DISTRICT TWP., Pa. - Firefighters worked for several hours to put out a silo fire in Berks County.

The firefighters were called around 3 p.m. Sunday to the 1000 block of Huff's Church Road in District Township, according to the Eastern Berks Fire Department.

The farm owner told emergency crews about a possible fire in a grain silo on his former dairy farm.

Officials said silo fires are unique and take time, patience, and special expertise. Crews were called in from Lancaster County to help.

Eastern Berks Fire Department and Montgomery County's Pennsburg Tower 65 worked the scene and got the fire under control after more than four hours.
