Animal shelters across the country have been struggling with overcrowding during the pandemic.

Adoptions have slowed and more homeless pets are being turned in with nowhere to go.

The Animal Rescue League of Berks County is working to "empty the shelters" for the holidays.

It's taking part in an event sponsored by the BISSELL Pet Foundation.

For two weeks, starting Monday, adoption fees at the ARL will be significantly reduced.
