Police in Luzerne County are beefing up patrols following a string of incidents where vehicles and homes were hit by gunfire.
Hazleton City Police and Detectives responded after shots rang out at 12:30 a.m. Monday in the area of Penn Court. Gunfire damaged a home and vehicles. Nobody was injured.
In a separate incident, police responded to a shooting in the area of 17th and Carson Street, which involved a vehicle and home.
Police were also called to 17th and Peace Street after a home was hit by gunfire.
The incidents, which all happened over the course of about two days, involved property damage. Nobody was injured.
Information indicates the shootings were related to targeted group violence, which is being investigated by the Hazleton Police Detective Division along with the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office.
Hazleton Police Chief Jerry Speziale ordered additional city patrol units for saturated patrols. State police is assisting with the saturated patrols.
