Club owner, security guard shot outside Allentown nightclub

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Two people were shot in a parking lot outside of an Allentown nightclub early Monday morning.

There is an outpouring of support for the club's owner on Facebook, identifying him and a security guard as the two victims in the shooting. A source confirmed that information.

Allentown police were called to the 400 block of North 17th Street shortly after 2 a.m. for a reported shooting.

Officers arrived to find evidence of a shooting in the parking lot outside of the MainGate Nightclub, but no victims, according to Assistant Chief Gail Struss with the Allentown Police Department.

Two shooting victims were already at Lehigh Valley Hospital down the block, at 17th and Chew streets, Struss said.

They were transferred to Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, but details about their condition and where they were shot were not available.

Witnesses told police the shooting stemmed from a fight that started inside the nightclub and spilled outside into the parking lot, police said.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information should contact Allentown police at 610-437-7721.

It marks the second nightclub shooting outside an Allentown club in three weeks. On June 10 people were shot outside Deja Vu, a club on the other side of the city.

Police suspect three shooters, armed with AR-15s, were involved. So far, only the alleged getaway driver has been arrested.
