Allentown SD wins grant to renovate youth baseball field

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Youth baseball players in Allentown will soon see upgrades to their baseball field thanks, in part, to Chase Utley.

The former Philadelphia Phillie and 2008 World Series champ sits on a panel that chooses renovations for cities in need.

The Allentown School District/Lehigh Valley RBI Baseball is one of four winners of a grant to repair and upgrade its baseball field.

In a statement, the MLB said many of the school district's and RBI teams' home games turn into road games due to poor field conditions.

More than $200,000 in repairs and upgrades will be made across four fields in Allentown; Chicago; Mount Vernon, New York; and Wewoka, Oklahoma.
