Allentown woman charged in hairy caper

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - An Allentown woman is facing charges following an alleged hair-raising theft.

Allentown police were dispatched to Advanced Hair Enhancement in the 2200 block of West Tilghman Street shortly before 1 p.m. April 29 to investigate a theft report.

The business owner told authorities that a woman had come in the store that day and asked to try on wigs, according to court records. With a real human hair wig atop her head, the customer turned alleged thief ran out the door, according to records.

The owner said the wig was worth $1,200.

She provided police with surveillance photos, and the officer later identified the well-coiffed bandit at Pamela A. Holmes of West Livingston Street.

District Judge Rod Beck arraigned the 49-year-old May 8 on a single felony count of retail theft, releasing her on $10,000 unsecured bail. Her next court date is a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 29.
