Fish habitat improvement project at Minsi Lake underway

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Pa. - In Northampton County's Slate Belt, the next phase of work is underway to revitalize a lake that's been empty for more than two years.

Crews drained Minsi Lake in 2017 so its dam could be repaired and the spillway replaced.

The first phase of an extensive fish habitat improvement project is underway. Officials say more than 600 fish habitat structures are being built on the empty lake bed.

More work to boost fish in the lake will be done next year, when the lake is refilled. The project is expected to improve fishing at the county-managed lake.
