Former Neffs Hotel on Route 873 being torn down in North Whitehall Township

NORTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. - A Lehigh County neighborhood is saying goodbye to a fixture in the community.

Demolition crews were out in North Whitehall Township Tuesday tearing down chunks of the "Neffs Hotel and Other Side Restaurant" off Route 873.

The bar-and-grille closed down last August, and the property is now owned by the Neffs National Bank.

69 News talked with some locals who say they've been customers of the place since the 1960s.

"It was a nice place to eat and they had meals, and the last couple of years, they put it into a sports bar," former patron John Simock said.

"Just the camraderie among all the people, and we all worked together in town. It was just an enjoyable experience," former patron David Borbe said.

Some patrons say they wished the building could have been saved.

No word yet on any future plans for the property.
