ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A 63-year-old Heidelberg Township man is the third person reported from Lehigh County to have died from COVID-19, officials said.

The man died at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg, said Lehigh County Coroner Eric Minnich.

"We offer our sincerest condolences to their family and friends," said township supervisors and staff in a news release. "As a rural community, we often feel sheltered from the rest of the world. This news brings home the fact that we all need to take the necessary precautions to protect each other."

An 80-year-old Allentown man and a 66-year-old Allentown woman were previously reported to have died at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest after contracting the virus, Minnich said.

Minnich said his office did not investigate the deaths. He did not release any further information on the patients.

There were 533 new COVID-19 cases reported in Pennsylvania, state health officials said Saturday. That brings the state total to 2,751.

Officials also reported 12 new deaths, bringing the state total to 34.
