The World Golf Championship in Mexico City is moving to Florida. The PGA Tour sent a memo to players Friday announcing the move. It's mainly a result of the COVID-19 pandemic that has put restrictions on travel and kept away spectators. The new home for Feb. 25-28 will be The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin and hosted the NCAAs in 2015. Still to be determined is a title sponsor for tournament. This World Golf Championship has moved around more than the other three. The Concession will be its ninth course.

A federal appeals court in New York has upheld convictions against a sports marketer, an aspiring agent and a financial adviser in a college basketball scandal that spoiled the careers of several coaches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said in its written decision Friday that the ends didn't justify the means for defendants who maintained that what they did was the way it's done in college basketball programs. The convictions grew from the 2017 arrests of 10 individuals in what authorities described as a conspiracy to pay bribes to ensure NBA-bound college basketball stars would pledge allegiance to certain agents and handlers. Authorities said other bribes ensured top players would go to certain schools.

The UFC will no longer punish fighters for using marijuana in most cases. That's a major change to its anti-doping policy. The world’s largest mixed martial arts promotion will no longer worry about positive tests for carboxy-THC, the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, unless it believes a fighter used it intentionally to enhance performance. All other cannabinoids derived naturally from marijuana are no longer prohibited substances. The UFC won’t allow fighters to compete while under the influence of cannabinoids, but the promotion recognizes that MMA fighters often use marijuana for pain management or relaxation.
