Reading rolls past Richmond

Fightins ground Flying Squirrels, 6-1

RICHMOND, Va. - The Reading Fightin Phils defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels 6-1 on Thursday night at The Diamond. The victory clinched the series win, the second so far this season in Richmond for Reading.

With the win, the R-Phils are now 24-17 and the loss dropped the Squirrels to 15-27. Reading is now a season-high seven games over .500.

Reading led 2-0 through four innings, but broke the game open in the fifth when four runs crossed the plate to make it 6-0. Mickey Moniak and Austin Listi each had two-RBI doubles in the fifth inning to create the comfortable advantage for the visitors.

Bailey Falter earned the win on the mound for the Fightins. He improved to 4-2 this season.

The Fightin Phils now start a weekend series in Harrisburg against the Senators. First pitch on Friday is set for 7 p.m.
